Ingredients

Instructions

  1. 1Bring ½ cup water to a gentle simmer in a small pan over medium-low heat.
  2. 2Stir in 2 tbsp rolled oats and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring often, until the oats have swollen and the porridge coats the back of the spoon.
  3. 3Mash ½ ripe banana with a fork on a plate until no firm pieces remain, then fold it through the hot oats.
  4. 4Add a pinch of cinnamon if using, and loosen with a little extra water until the porridge is evenly mashed with no dry oat flakes left.
  5. 5Leave to cool to lukewarm, testing a spoonful yourself first, and serve at a thickness that suits your baby’s own feeding stage.

Tip. Oats keep thickening as they stand, so keep a few spoonfuls of warm water beside the bowl to loosen it again.
