Ingredients

Instructions

  1. 1Peel ½ sweet apple and coarsely grate it, discarding the core.
  2. 2Warm ½ cup water in a small pan over low heat and tip in the grated apple.
  3. 3Stir in 2 tbsp oats and simmer for about 8 minutes, stirring to stop it catching, until the shreds of apple have turned translucent and soft.
  4. 4Beat the porridge with a fork for a few seconds to break the oats down into an even mash, thinning with water if needed.
  5. 5Let it cool until only just warm, then serve at whatever thickness suits your baby.

Tip. Cooking a whole apple’s worth at once gives you a couple of extra portions; keep them covered in the fridge and use within a day.
